The New Zealand Bird Atlas is currently underway! This is Birds NZ’s third bird Atlas, running from 1st June 2019-1st June 2024 and is NZ’s largest community science project. Find out more about the project here, including the essentials, and webinar recordings running through Atlas and eBird basics. Essentially the country has been split up into over 3,200 10x10km grid squares that need bird data in them over the 5 year period. Enter complete lists of the birds you can identify to the Atlas eBird portal and you’ll directly contribute towards the Atlasing effort being undertaken across the entire country. Whether it is from your backyard, your bach or on a backpacking trip, your sightings are of real value to this nationwide project.
