Occupancy Modelling Short Course: 27 Nov - 1 Dec 2017, New Zealand
Instructor: Darryl I. MacKenzie
Occupancy modelling can be used in a wide range of ecological applications where the goal is to understand factors affecting species presence/absence, and how it changes over time (e.g., species distribution models, habitat modelling, monitoring programmes, metapopulation studies). However a key issue is the potential for 'false absences', where the species was present, but undetected by the survey methods. This course will cover some of the techniques that can be used to make improved inferences about species occurrence, while accounting for imperfect detection.
