2025 NZES National Virtual Event

To reduce our carbon footprint and ensure an accessible event option for all NZES members, NZES now runs an annual in-person conference every two years, with an online and local 'hub' option delivered in the alternate years.  The 2025 NZES event will therefore be a day of local hub events at various locations across the country, accompanied by national online plenary talks and the NZES annual awards.  The virtual event will take place on 20 November 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  For more details and to register to attend your regional hub, please visit this page in the members-only area of the website (you will need to log in to access this page).

We’re excited to announce the upcoming joint conference of the New Zealand Ecological Society (NZES) and the Society for Conservation Biology Oceania (SCBO), taking place 30 November - 4 December 2026 at AUT in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand!

This conference will bring together ecologists, conservation scientists, practitioners, Indigenous knowledge holders, and policy leaders from across Oceania. With a theme focused on "Changing the Conversation – Ecology in a Shifting Political Landscape", we’ll explore the ways ecology and conservation science and practice can respond to and influence environmental policy and action.
