Membership is open to any person interested in ecology and includes botanists, zoologists, teachers, students, soil scientists, conservation managers, amateurs and professionals.

All memberships receive the journal and newsletter digitally.

Unwaged memberships are for full-time students, unwaged or retired persons, and must be approved by council. Tasman linkage memberships are available for existing members of the Ecological Society of Australia; these must be approved by council.
