2018/19 is an exciting time for our Environmental Services department as we invest in a new suite of programmes which will improve Auckland’s precious natural environment for current and future generations.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated manager to lead an experienced group of ecologists and biodiversity advisors responsible for the protection, maintenance and restoration of the natural environmental, improving biodiversity outcomes across Auckland.
As a natural leader, a key part of your role will be to inspire, support and coach our people to perform, build their capability and preserve a great team culture. Your passion for making a positive impact on Auckland will shine through, inspiring your team to continuously strive to deliver bigger and better environmental outcomes for the region.
In partnership with the community, you will develop and implement strategies and programmes including species conservation and ecological restoration. Along with your team, you will manage the provision of expert technical advice and input into regional and district policy, planning and regulatory processes.
You will be an experienced leader demonstrating your capability in building people's capacity, lifting performance and engagement. Naturally you will come from a technical background, ideally in biodiversity or wider ecology. We are looking for someone with superb communication and stakeholder management skills to enable you to work across the whole council family, with our mana whenua partners, community groups, private landowners, schools, non-government organisations and central government to support best practice conservation practices and outcomes.
